Dietary & Lifestyle Recommendations

As an important part of your healing plan, we may ask that you explore alternatives within your diet and lifestyle that will help to enhance your healing process. These changes will be specific to your condition and current situation in life, as each patient is evaluated and treated individually. The outcome of your treatment is dependent upon the fulfillment of the healing partnership between you and your practitioner. We understand that making changes in ones lifestyle can be a challenging affair, but we believe that it can also be a joyous, creative, and fulfilling exercise, and we are here to help! A wise practitioner once said, “All in moderation, especially moderation!”.

General Guidelines

  • Dietary Mindfullness — We recommend practicing mindfulness in the daily refueling of your body. You have the power to make the choice of what you put into your mouth. Ask yourself if your food choices will contribute to your health and well-being or cause future problems. For best results, try to take it slow while eating, chew your food properly, and eat at regular intervals so that your digestive process will be stress free and relaxed.
  • Exercise with Care — Moderate and regular physical movement are essential for optimum health. As the body moves it triggers built in self-cleansing mechanisms, by which toxins are released, fluids are circulated, and the cardiovascular, digestive, and lymphatic systems are regulated. Whether you are running, dancing, swimming, walking, playing team sports, or practicing your yoga or martial art, we feel that best results may be achieved through mindful regularity, and we are happy to discuss with you the work-out that might best support your life and goals.
  • Rest Well — It is difficult to find true health, if we do not get the quality of quantity of rest we need. For optimal, rejuvinating sleep try to be in bed by 11pm at the latest each night. Humans are, by nature, day-dwellers, so try to follow the natural rhythms of the sun as much as possible. If your lifestyle simply doesn’t support this, then do the best you can to create a regular sleep pattern, falling asleep and rising at approximately the same time each day.
